1. Please introduce yourself. Whats your real name, how old are you, and where are you from?
<gorky> my real name is Shawn Gorzkowski, im 23, and im from Maryland
2. How long have you been playing magic? And how that time have you been in Magic-League?
<gorky> I've been playing magic since Tempest. I've been playing magic-league since this summer. I got into it because it is free, unlike magic online
And is the price what keeps you coming back to Magic-League? Or is it friendships? the amazing coverage articles? Me?
<gorky> Heh. There are some decent players here and some nice people. If I ever become a solid pro I would probobly continue to play here, at least casually.
3. Is that something you dream of? Becomming a pro?
<gorky> It is unlikely that I will ever reach a level where I can make a living off of magic. Only a handful of extemely talented people can do that. But I do see myself playing in a number of pro tours before i hang it up. I plan on qualifying for pro tour philly and nats since they are close to me
Do you play in a lot of local ptqs? And, if so, how do you normally do?
<gorky> to be honest, I've never really made a serious attempt to qualify for the pro tour. I've only played in like 5 qualifiers. I have played in regionals for the past 3 years and placed in the top 24 each time. I hope to qualify for the pt on rating. Im almost there in constructed but I may need to play in some limited qualifiers for nats
4. What is your favorite format in magic and why?
<gorky> type 2 is my favorite format because it changes fast enough, but not too fast. Type 1 can be overpowered, as can extended. And I feel that block is often too narrow. I like to draft, but it is clearly not my strength. My limited rating is about 200 points lower than my constructed.
5. What is your limited and constructed Real life rating? How does this compare to your league ratings?
<gorky> my irl constructed rating is 1987, my lim is 1845. My league rating in constructed is 1873 and my limited is 1624.
<gorky> heh, I've been on quite a losing streak in online drafts
6. How do you feel about the league right now? Do you like the new Masters invitation policy? Why or why not?
<gorky> I do like the invitation policy. I hated playing in Masters that took over 9 hours
<gorky> It also rewards people who are loyal to the league, since they have to t8 a trial or play alot to have a high rating
8. If you were to become the director what would be the first thing you would do?
<gorky> i dont really have any complaints about the way the site is being run. The only thing i can think of is to keep an eye out for judges that abuse their power or take things too seriously. I have seen judges kick people for dumb reasons like asking for a game twice. While judges should enforce rules, there is no reason for judges to abuse their power.
9. Have you ever thought about trying to become a judge? You oibviously know at least a little about magic
<gorky> I've never been really good with rules questions. I may someday become a judge irl if I everwant to stay involved in the game without being competitive in tournaments
10. If you could have three wishes, what would they be? Normal Geenie rules apply, no wishing for more wishes
<gorky> 1. to get and keep a dream job like a game designer or professional author 2. to live forever (dying is for losers) 3. to be remembered 100 years from now
good wishes, but after 100 years, are we allowed to forget you?
<gorky> sure, everyone will be forgotten someday
<gorky> i guess 1000 years would be better though
Thanks a lot for you time Gorky! Anything you would like to add?
<gorky> hopefully I'll win the next master I'm in!
another one? who do you think you are? demon?
<gorky> heh, demons got nothing on me!
<gorky> he does win alot though, so I guess he deserves respect for that
