|
i'm playing magic on a rather small budget and saw possiblities with dimir, and really liked how dimir played so i thought i would get 2 precons and dump what i don't like and double up of what i think best. well heres my deck idea. more or less the purpose is a tunneleling deck.
Land: 20
8 island
8 swamp
4 dimir aquaduct
Creatures: 20
2 szadek, Lord of Secrets
4 Belltower Sphinx
4 Vedalken Entrancer
4 Lurking informant
2 Wizened Snitches
2 Dimir House guard
2 Dimir infiltrator
Spells: 20
2 Dream leash
4 Induce Paranoia
4 Last Gasp
4 Disembowel
4 psyhic drain
2 purplex
any ideas or critisim is welcome, i'm trying to make this the best i can, any ideas would help me out. but keep in mind i'm working with a very very small budget and right now all i've got to work with is the cards from 2 dimir ravincia precons. |

The first main point of magic is to have fun, and the deck you built certainly looks like fun!
That being said, it would be very rare to see a deck like that make it big on the Professional circuit. The only reason for this is that most people who fell in love with Dimir upon Ravnica's release, lost interest as a true netdeck based around the guild failed to show.
With a very tight budget, it would seem like your hopes and aspirations of becoming a very big part of the Pro-Tour is somewhat far-fetched, but oh how wrong you are!
The deck you made out of two pre-cons looks insanely stable, moreso, it looks to be a deck that would give every Ravnica Block deck a run for it's money.
Ofcourse, some brilliant mind will hop on here and say you need 4 Glimpse the Unthinkables, but being a man like yourself, whose very tight on money right now, that is not an option.
Your best bet right now is to take part in every draft you can, not just for the DCI rating and points, which will earn you invites to pro-tours and give you special cards, but also for the card stock.
Since most people draft to win in tournies, you could get passed every card you need to make that deck better.
But what cards do you need?
No one can tell you that, they can make suggestions, but it is up to you to build around your play style and creativity.
This might not be helpful at all, or it could be just the thing you needed; once again I am just pointing you in the direction I travelled and telling you what I went through.
As well as drafting, doing your best to earn store credit from Magic-League is another good plan, which will also help your playing skills and give you a shot at 80 dollars, which is alot of money.
Use your mind, think about what you want the deck to do, then research the cards available that help you do that, but for 20 dollars the deck you have now is really good.

| actually i never inteneded to try to make it to the professional circuit, this deck was more intended to be used in tournaments around my city in small stores or games with friends. i never had much confidince in it. I actually just made it today. I personally love the way dimir plays, they attack the one place people don't often worry to defend, their libary. YOu can have infiniate health but no cards and your game is over, i had that in mind when i was making this deck. I know glimpse the unthinables would give this deck a hudge edge, so would cirzu and mauybe followed footsteeps, i want to add those in if i get a chance and the money. But i'm glad to see such a positive response, i was expecting to have it ripped to shreds. |

I played Dimir whenever Ravnica came out before Guildpact. I don't think the Mill is a great idea unless you're running Glimpses to lighten the load up a bit. If you're bent on having counters in there (Perplex) I would switch it to Convolute. Induce Paranoia is nice though, even if it is a bit expensive. I know you don't want to hear this, but you probably need Circu, Dimir Lobotomist. You might find someone still playing Dimir to trade the Szadeks for them. That's what I did. Then again, that dude was pretty dumb.
I don't know. All I can tell you is do what I did.
SAVE YOUR MONEY. ^.^ |

| I played this deck recently in a small tournament a store close to my house holds every friday, and to my surprise i won first place. But i've decided to change the overall idea from mill to aggro, pure dimir flying aggro, and some glasskites. |
