This is my casual Elf Deck. It has worked quite well but I was wondering if there was any way to slim it down a bit. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

1 Elvish Champion
1 Wirewood Guardian
1 Argothian Elder
1 Stream of Life
1 Treetop Rangers
1 Blanchwood Treefolk
1 Elvish Berserker
1 Venom
1 Defiant Elf
1 Lure
1 Hidden Spider
2 Explosive Growth
1 Pincer Spider
1 Silvos, Rogue Elemental
1 Femeref Archers
3 Llanowar Elves
1 Thicket Basilisk
1 Squirrel Nest
1 Hidden Ancients
1 Brontotherium
1 Gempalm Strider
1 Brawn
1 Llanowar Elite
1 Tranquility
1 Tangle
1 Vitality Charm
1 Elvish Aberration
1 Venomspout Brackus
1 Centaur Glade
1 Krosan Restorer
2 Elvish Guidance
2 Treetop Scout
2 Wellwisher
1 Grizzly Fate
1 Elvish Lyrist
1 Monstrous Growth
1 Fog
2 Timberwatch Elf
1 Regeneration
1 Carapace
1 Ancestral Mask
1 Seeker of Skybreak
2 Giant Growth
1 Redwood Treefolk
1 Natural Spring
1 Wirewood Herald

2 Elven Cache
26 Forest

I know it looks big but it's only about 85 cards. I was hoping to slim it down to somewhere around 60 or 70.

Thanks! I'll definately stick that deck up in Apprentice. Very Happy Unfortunately my corporeal cards are limited by funds and what I have, and I sadly only have one elvish champion and no cards past 7th edition. Kamigawa put me off and I stopped collecting Confused . The deck I have up there is also mainly older cards and I don't really like the idea of mixing Ravnica with it, although I might make a Ravnica deck on its own. Would you have any suggestions of cards just to take out of the above deck? Is there anything superfluous that doesn't really need to be there? Most of my most useful cards are in it already, though I'll go through my spares again and see if there's anything I overlooked. Thanks again for your help! I really appreciate it!

I'm sorry, but where do I start? There are many terrible, terrible cards... It seems so thrown together...

I'd try to start with a base of pretty much all elves.

Here's a deck I've actually created on my own, and costs $20-50, all fairly cheap cards...

I own this, and totally destroy casual games...

4 Wirewood Lodge
12 Forests

4 Llanowar Elves
4 Priest of Titania
4 Quirion Ranger
4 Sylvan Messenger
4 Taunting Elf
4 Wellwisher
4 Wirewood Herald
4 Timberwatch Elf
2 Wirewood Symbiote

2 Hurricane
4 Land Grant
4 Slate of Ancestry

At first glimpse many people would scream: "NO ELVISH CHAMPION?!?!? NO COAT OF ARMS?!?!??!" I did have 4 Elvish Champions. Sold 'em. Not worth it. Coat of Arms is a "win more" card. You don't need it. With it, you'll win same turn. This deck wins on turn 4-5 consistently, and it pretty much locks the game down that your opponent won't recover around turn 2-3.

It's pretty simple. You gain or deal life first. Then you can hurricane for 20. I've done that very often. You can always get Timberwatch Elf out. You win. Throw in a Symbiote or Quirion Ranger, and it's GG turn 4. You could also go Taunting Elf, not even needing Timberwatch Elf.

http://www.essentialmagic.com/Decks/Analysis.asp?ID=440934 -- See for yourself how fast and consistent this deck is. Remember: Don't count a bad hand as inconsitency. Try mulliganning once, and see if it's still bad.

Anyway, I can't give advice on the deck. You need to start over. Disassemble the deck and organize the cards. (I always do this.) Then, starting with the best cards, put cards in your deck until you have 38-42. Then add lands. (Land Grant = 1 Land) I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to buy some elves, they are pretty cheap. Wink

Thanks Elvishgod! I'll definately see if I can make that deck somehow. And the deck I have was 'thrown together' with the cards that I have. I don't have the access or funds to order specific cards. Part of the reason it's so varied is because I like the fact that every time I play it's different. It's more fun than just playing by formula. It's not a tournament deck by any means - It's just something I play with amongst friends.

Though I really like the deck you suggested. It's very well made.

Trust me, I understand fun decks...

But first you need to narrow your deck to 60 cards, and see what cards you can get trading with friends, etc.
