| Let's say you attack with a creature with double strike. and they block with a small token who doesn't have first strike. How does that work? does the first strike damage get dealt to the creature then you can assign damage to a planeswalker/player? or does all damage go to the blocking creature? |

In the first combat damage step the double striker will assign all its damage to the blocking creature, which then will be destroyed. In the regulat Combat Damage Step the double striker won't assign any combat damage because it is still a blocked creature. That the blocking creature is no longer in play is irrelevant. Only creatures with trample can assign combat damage to a player/planeswalker although they're blocked. |

| Then any damage bigger than the toughness can be assigned to the defending player. If there is no blocker left, that means all damage can be assigned to the player. |

Just a lil more on what Hardtrack said.
If you have a trampling double striker then you assign first strike damage to the creature and any trample damage to the player/planeswalker. Then during regular combat damage you could assign his full damage to the player/planeswalker.
This is assuming that the blocking creature didn't have protection from the attacking creature. If the blocker did have protection then during regular combat damage you would have to reassign "lethal" damage to the creature and trample over for whatever. |
