I'm wat u call a magic-enthusiast but at the very best a mediocre player with mediocre understanding of the game. I want to develop a worldgorger-dragon+animate dead deck mono-black. I'm absolutely horrible however at building a deck b/c it seems to work out perfectly in my mind but i end up making the deck trying to do too much. I was thinking of a decklist something like this:

worldgorger-dragon x 4
animate dead x 4
necromancy x 2- 4
entomb x 4
buried alive x 2 - 4
ambassador laquatus x 2 - 3
pact of negation x 4
duress x 4
last rites x 2 - 3
necropotence x 4
dark ritual x 4
and 20 or so lands

Again im quite inept at magic and deckbuilding (dont make fun, im tender) i was wondering if this is the best way to go at it, im open to suggestions.

animate dead will not work to bring back worldgorger. when you animate dead the worldgorger, it comes into play, then all your permanents are removed from the game, causing animate dead to be removed as well. Try exhume instead.

animate dead and a pandamonium would be fun with worldgorger though. Smile

@rehpotsirhc: you can animate the dragon, and actually it is a very potent and known combo.
the dragon comes and removes the animate dead, which in turn kills the dragon and makes the animate come back into play ready to get a new creature.
the catch is that your lands come in after the dragon untapped, so this nets you infinite mana. if you now add a bazaar of baghdad you can also basically mill yourself, and once you have 2000 mana you just change the target of the animate dead to laquatus and deck your opponent.

@skewer: if you want to play it mono-black the list looks ok, but the deck is just SO much better if you do not restrict yourself to one color...
also, your deck is not legal in any format... if you want to play casual with it thats fine, but to make it vintage legal you need to replace 3 entombs and 3 necropotences with other cards.

I dont think you have all the power cards for a vintage deck, so i suggest cards that do similar things, while not beeing so expensive.

One realy important card in the vintage worldgorger deck is bazaar of baghdad because you can just get your library into your graveyard, get infinite mana and combo off. If you need an replacement for that kind of land i suggest, Mikoroko, Center of the Sea. It will not allow you to put the card into your graveyard but you can draw your complete deck. After you know that you dont need a lot kill conditions.
I dont know how expenive your landbase can be,but thats about how i would do it, while still hold on to the vintage restricted list(but the moxes, because i guess its ok if you play some chrome moxes):

// Lands
4 [SOK] Mikokoro, Center of the Sea

// Creatures
1 [10E] Ambassador Laquatus
4 [JU] Worldgorger Dragon

// Spells
4 [MR] Chrome Mox
4 [7E] Duress
2 [FUT] Pact of Negation
3 [TE] Intuition
3 [SOK] Ideas Unbound
1 [UL] Frantic Search
4 [OD] Careful Study
3 [IA] Dance of the Dead
1 [P3] Imperial Seal
1 [VI] Vampiric Tutor
1 [A] Demonic Tutor
1 [OD] Entomb
4 [A] Animate Dead
1 [TSP] Pull from Eternity (extirpate)
1 [ON] Chain of Vapor (Leyline)

(i dont know what lands you can afford but 2 colors with a third splash(only if theres gravehate) shouldnt be too hard to manage)

Thats more or less how i would do it without power cards. Of course it depends also what of those cards you get and so on. But i think you get a pretty good idea. (with this deck you basicly draw your deck but 2 card with Mikokoro, Center of the Sea, then you play frantic search to get your Ambasador into your graveyard, from that point you target him intead of gorger with your reanimation effect and kill him with the endless mana, you had put into pool before).

thanks to all who repied. I understand the added power and versatility having a second or perhaps even third color base but again i am a casual player (hence posting in the casual section) I own a reanimator deck winning via entomb/akroma/reanimate so i have most of the pieces listed in this new deck. im not planning to play vintage (that would probably cost me a spleen and my firstborn to do so). anyways i really like the idea of mikokoro, and will most likely include that. if anybody has any more hidden gems like mikokoro plz share with this novice =].
