Chat & Play Room

Im new to the site and when I try to log get into the Chat and play room the chat box just has a little red X in the top left corner. Ive shut off Nortons and tried but still get it, port 6667 is open. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

it looks like you need to install the java plugin for your browser

got the latest java and still no luck

It would be something with your computer.

Have you tried it with firefox instead?

Otherwise, have you tried downloading mirc?

i have a similar problem and i use mirc i cant get into any of the channels

Can you quote the exact error messages you get when trying to connect to the irc network?

the red x indicates the java applet cant or wont be loaded.

the first reason could be that the java runtime environment is not installed.

the second reason could be that you dont actually allow your browser to run java applets (check security settings)

anther reason could be that the applet the embedded tag is referring to, can't be found on the remote webserver it wants to download it from.

side note: One time i wrote an actual java applet that only showed the red x in the corner... you could then start the 'secret application' by clicking it 3 times with 4+ second intervals. Lame and useless.... but w/e
