|
|
I know it might sound really stupid, but could pyrostatic pillar potentially be a good sidboard card for U control?
A lot of the cards used in the deck are typically cheap, and are used to counter key burn spells, and the pillar would turn all of these spells into mini shocks.
I realise that the red player would also take a lot of damage through his/her own spells, but as the aggressive player, this could possibly be worth it?
What do you guys thinks?

i play RDW/Burn in Ext and can't choose between the two
i run the pillar in both builds and i have seen a difference.
if you burn the straight burn version, pillar usually hurts you more because of sheer amount of spells you need to play
if you run the aggro with creatures, pillar is a great asset. with creatures staying on the board longer, their spells are more hurtful.
so it just depends on what side you play |

- pillar is used in red decks on the sideboard for combo decks not main because it kills you.
- its been used for ages so please do not try take credit for the idea |

If you think about it, it does good against non-combo decks as well.
btw, I didn't see anyone trying to take credit for it. |

- elfball = combo pretty much |

I don't think Pillar is actually that good against Elf ball. I played with burn last night in an MTGO 4 man and faced Elf ball round 2. I sided in Pillar and never even got to cast it.
I can't play it turn 2 as then I will do 10+ damage to myself and crappy elves will just attack me. The problem is that it's hard to judge when the elf deck will "go off" as a single Glimpse or Chord of Calling out of nowhere is often enough. |

I know it has been used for ages, against COMBO.
My question is, could the card have potential against Mono U? |

| if by MUC you mean Next level blue then i mean if you are playing a more RDW type of deck, then there are possibilities for the card |
