A while since I won a trial. I'd like to thank all my opponents for giving me this opportunity. Also, I'd like to thanks the schedulers over at M-L for scheduling a Legacy Trial I could play in. I couldn't have done this without you all!
Matches in order:
TES (2-0), Loam Tog (2-0), Burn (2-0), Bye (2-1, close), Burn (2-0)

Also, even smaller Trial than the last Vintage. Had a grand total of one player less.

I lost to eldariel in rd 3 and simply had no chance with my crappy burn deck. well, gratz 4 winning.

by MistyFatDog on 2008-07-12 10:40 MST

Eldarial, svg cheats obv

I hear the bye almost had you and you had to offer him mtgo tix for the win.

by Eldariel on 2008-07-12 10:43 MST

Bye was tough, but you got the story a bit wrong. He was winning the last game, but since he wasn't going to use the Byes for Masters anyways (he finds it unethical), he budged and scooped.

Also, for some reason the site hates ML judges; we all got paired over the first two rounds.

I lost to burn in round 4. Burn is a bad matchup for aggro loam without chalice. The two enlightned tutor and circle weren't enough...
And here, it seems everybody is playing burn!!
Stop playing this crappy deck please.

by WiCkEdWiZaRd on 2008-07-12 12:06 MST

you are crappy

by mufl0n on 2008-07-12 14:05 MST

i am crappy

loool aggro loam eats burn alive...
your list is random
not bad but random :-/

by el_cuervito on 2008-07-12 15:43 MST

GJ Kaesh :)

Wichtel: It's really about 50/50; Aggro Loam needs to resolve Dreams with a big beatstick in play, and since Burn goldfishes around turn 4, that means Aggro Loam needs to curve out almost perfectly.

Further, a savvy Burn-player will have saved 1-mana burn and a land in hand to finish the job a turn before Loam. It isn't a straight good or bad MU for either. Chalice or Duress helps a lot for Aggro Loam though, allowing it to play the control-role in the MU more effectively.

It doesn't help that Price of Progress is often 4-6 damage in one shot, more if Aggro Loam-player is careless.

Btw adrien, what's up with no Terravore and stuff like Confi and Mongrel? Trying to prepare for Leyline? 'cause Vore works fine off just opposing grave too.

There is soo much mana fixing in legacy that there has to better options than city of brass, more so if everyone is playing burn.

by gypsy on 2008-07-12 17:50 MST

lol why is there city of brass when u have fetchlands and duals

by ZW on 2008-07-12 22:27 MST

gj eldariel, i wudve pwnd had i been able to join :/

by Wichtelman on 2008-07-13 01:41 MST

well with that list the matchup is 50%
prepared more for hate and combo weakens it a bit
otherwise you just smash burn (mox diamond anyone?)
i think loam could beat everything if its not combo

lol. you rawdogged your circle in game 2 and still lost :D

by georgjorge on 2008-07-13 05:56 MST

Sad to see those Legacy Trials without people joining them...

Haven't seen such an AggroLoam before (Vial, 4color, Gaddock, ETutor). I don't know - are the Vials and the splash for Gaddock and ETutor really better than just running Duress and Seize (it sure seems slower) ? Also, Chalice might be better than Thorn in the sideboard.

by kreff on 2008-07-13 07:42 MST

eldariel, seems u win one oscar lol, this is just a 22 people trial!! XDD

grats anyways ;)

by Eldariel on 2008-07-13 07:50 MST

kreff: That's the point. The more grandeur speech I have, the weirder it sounds. It is there SOLELY because it's out of place.

by kreff on 2008-07-13 09:13 MST

I have something to add: LOL

by Cabal_chan on 2008-07-13 17:06 MST

I'd attend more Legacy trials if they were held in the evening. Work tends to consume a large amount of the day.
